Northern Gateway Pipeline emails released after four-year wait, reveal consultation concerns

14:59 Apr 24 2015 Vancouver, Greater Vancouver Regional District, British Columbia, Canada

Description
An access to information request filed by the Haisla First Nation has been granted after four years, revealing concerns from government staff about the consultation process for the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline. The request returned several emails from Transportation Canada and Environment Canada staff, in which they discuss that the review process for the pipeline did not include adequate involvement from First Nations.

Due to the delay in receiving these document, they may no longer be admissible in court, where the Haisla and seven other First Nations are suing the Canadian government over the consultation review process on the Enbridge Pipeline.
