"Tintin in America" pulled from bookstore and library shelves

18:45 Mar 22 2015 Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Description
A Chapters store in Winnipeg pulled copies of "Tintin in America," following a complaint from a local educator that the books contained racist depictions of First Nations people. After an investigation by store managers, the store determined that the book did nit meet any of Chapter's qualifications for being banned, and returned the book to the shelves.

This incident promted an investigation by the Winnipeg public library, who discovered that the book had returned to library shelves despite the decion to remove the book in 2006 and move it to a separate research collection. The book has since been removed again.
