*Updated* Injunction against Muskrat Falls protesters dropped

23:52 Jan 12 2015 Muskrat Falls, Trans-Labrador Highway, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Description
Nalcor Energy has been granted in an injunction from the Newfoundland Supreme Court to stop members of the NunatuKavut Community Council from protesting within 50 of the Muskrat falls construction site. 10 protesters have since been charged. The Council members were protesting the building of transmission lines through their territory without consent.

*Updated*

The Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court of Appeal ruled to overthrow the injunction against protesters at the Muskrat Falls site. The court determined that the injunction had been "grossly disproportionate" given the protest actions, and that there was “no public interest” in pursuing the charges against the 10 protesters.
