Two Canadian movie theatre chains -- Cineplex Entertainment and Landmark Cinemas Canada -- issued statements on December 17, 2014 stating that in light of the threats directed at theatres, they will postpone planned showings of the film, which was scheduled for release on December 25, 2014.

*Update*

On December 24, 2014, after protests against the movie being pulled, Sony released The Interview to the public online. Several independent theatres in the US and Canada are also screening the film.
